We believe the truth

On Webelievethetruth.com everybody can share and discuss stories, statements and links about the truth.
Our goal is to find common truth we all believe.

The mind is everything, what we think we become. We have to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, words and actions, it conditions our entire being. It doesn't matter if you're religious or believe in human science, my truth doesn't have to be your truth and that's OK. Don't believe everything you read, see or think, no matter where you read it or who has said it. Don't assume too much and only believe when it agrees with your own reason and common sense.

Everybody believes something, how do YOU tell if something is true or not? You have to know or experience something about the subject to believe and confirm some story to be true.

About the creator

I've always lived my life what I consider to be a normal and average Dutch man. A loving father and husband, a hard working software developer, a guy that follows his heart with common sense. I've always been skeptical about what to believe and don’t just assume things. I believe what I know, what I experience and despite the fact I do not follow any religion, I do respect other people's beliefs. Some things in religion make sense, some don't. Just like science and who am I to judge what you believe? I don't have the same knowledge and experiences you do.

I believe in science, however I also believe there is more to life than we can possibly measure in the external world using our limited senses. How do you know if our 'external world' is independent of a perceiving subject? That's just making assumptions and you have to believe in this to accept all science to be true. We trust our senses, our thoughts. We discriminate this from that and have habits. This creates an individual reality with the knowledge and experience we individually believe to be true. It is a subjective reality based upon individual knowledge and understanding about internal and external phenomena.

I considered myself to be an atheist as I do not follow any religion and I don't believe in ghosts, demons, angels, devils etc. To me god is a word to explain all things that happen we don't know or can't explain (yet?). I believe that everything happens within the mind and all is that we see, hear, smell, taste, feel and think. We are complex sentient beings, an expression of creation to create and experience peaceful, joyful love.

Know thyself

The last couple of years I've been thinking, philosophizing, meditating, calming my mind and digging deep within my self, to find out where some of my feelings and thoughts come from and what life's all about. I sometimes could be having discussions with myself and what the hell I was thinking? I was wondering, seeking for answers, what is that? Why can I argue with myself and why do I sometimes suffer just because of these thoughts? Why do I sometimes have to suffer like this? I noticed every sentient being, every living creature, big or small, rich or poor, healthy or sick experiences some kind of suffering... Sometimes life is just that, suffering. Aging is suffering, illness suffering, death suffering, hungry not getting food suffering, and not getting what I want is also suffering. I questioned these things over and over, why does nature seem to be beautiful but sometimes so "unfair"?

I meditated a lot focusing on this suffering and also how love works. Because when I'm not suffering I love things I do, I create, I share and give, yet also this sometimes brought some more suffering. Why do we fall in love? How does attraction work and what is this urge, this feeling I get? How does it work? Why does it sometimes make me feel so sad and make me cry or get angry? Why do 'I' sometimes suffer although 'I' have everything my heart desires? Sometimes you have to act, sometimes you have to let go. Everything changes, don't let everything bother you. Expecting less and giving more made me suffer less.

I came to see that every good and bad thing I did somehow reflected to my outside world. We do things intentional, volitional and I could seperate my thoughts in 'good' and 'bad'. I decided to just observe things that happen more carefully and just be without judging. After months of paying attention to my feelings and thoughts, I suddenly realized 'what if there is no I'? Because if there is no “I”, “I” cannot suffer...? From that moment an indescribable peaceful feeling of pure bliss came over me.

The burning personal desire and not knowing the cause was the cause of all my suffering... My entire perspective of life changed the moment I realized I got hurt because 'I' wanted things for myself. From that moment everything that happens makes sense and my mind is at peace with anything. I have awakened from the illusion of the self by realizing there is no self.

The last couple of years I've been thinking, meditating, calming the mind and digging deep within myself. Philosophizing and trying to figure out why I do what I do, why I like what I like, where feelings and thoughts come from, what life's all about and why we suffer? This was a difficult process and some thoughts made me suffer even more.

Through dependent origination and cause and effect I came to conclusion that the way we think about things, which philosophy we follow (dualism, monism, materialism, idealism etc.), the knowledge, our experiences, what we believe and how we sense phenomena make our differences.

I then fully submitted myself into the emptyness of my mind and found the cause for all my suffering. I realized everything is impermanent, there is "no self" and the cause of all 'my' suffering is attachment to 'my' personal desires and ignorance. Understanding the way things truly are liberated my mind. Now I know the true self we all share and am fully awake.

I know the truth

Now if I had to pick a religion to believe, it would be Buddhism.
I now believe that all is that we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and think. I know The Four Noble Truths,
The Noble Eightfold Path and Abhidhamma are true because I experience it. But who am I to tell you what to believe?

Confirming my changed thoughts and feelings, I now see everything the way Buddha already taught us thousands of years ago.
Every moment exists of form (or matter/body), sensations (feelings, neutral, positive/negative), perceptions (views), volitional mental activity (formations) and consciousness. All suffering arises when our ignorant mind discriminates, identifies with and clings to one of these five factors that constitute and create a 'person'/'individual'.

By knowing the true cause and cessation of suffering, I ultimately realize the truth. Cause and effect, what being is, what karma is and the way we experience life. The spiritual principle of cause and effect is where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influences the future of that individual (effect). Every action we do, every word we speak begins with a thought. Everything is connected inside and outside and we move from state to state, constantly being and becoming.

Our "ego” personality is just a construct we believe in and because we think our thoughts define us as a person, the mind creates thoughts for this so called "ego". The clinging mind creates a craving for itself and because we associate ourselves with these thoughts we think these thoughts define us. It creates an untrue perspective of reality and makes us suffer. This independent craving to satisfy the mind of the constructed 'me' is making 'me' suffer.

Higher consciousness

Call me crazy because I followed an ancient path described by the Buddha without even knowing it. When I liberated my mind and tried to validate what happened, I meditated into emptiness and reached Samadhi. Free from the self perspective, something unexplainable happened... Within this state of consciousness some "inner voice" asked me if I wanted to help. It showed me how the mind works and how everything is projected within the mind. How we are degrading and polluting the world because of ignorance, fear and not knowing what we are doing or how we can stop all suffering. We chase personal desires with ignorance and because of that there is too much hate and anger in the world. We have forgotten who we are, what we are, what we need and what human being is all about. The sad part is... We don't know why and we cannot believe the undeniable truth.

Things are out of balance and our true mind asked me to to create this website and share true wisdom with the world. Create a place where people can validate and share the truth, their life experiences, beliefs and make them realize the root cause of all suffering is within the mind itself. We need to purify our minds, fix it, liberate ourselves. We need to care about each other instead of ourselves. We need peace, joy, respect, love and compassion for each other despite our differences, because ultimately we are one mind.

People think they're smart, got it all figured out and accepted our modern way of living with wrong moral standards and die. We are born, we suffer and we die to be born again and again in a beginning- and endless cycle of life with suffering. There are people who are aware of this and awakened to help other people guiding the right way. All you have to do is open your mind and believe the truth, a truth that's hidden deep within each and every living being. I hope this website helps you find your way out of suffering.

Share your wisdom

Nothing stays the same, everything changes, from moment to moment from state to state. It has been and always be like this. This happens without some permanent entity, it's the endless possibilities of becoming. All is within the mind and there is nobody to salvage you but yourself.

Personal desire, craving and ignorance traps us in an endless cycle of living with suffering and rebirth. By knowing the truth about how the mind works, how suffering works and living with high moral standards, virtues, we all have a way out of this cycle to live unconditioned in ultimate bliss and happiness.

I think we should convince each other to learn the truth about how our mind works and what suffering really is. How greed, hate and ignorance pollute the mind and with the purification and liberation of the mind we will find true happiness. Then we can all live in harmony despite our differences without personal possessions, needs or wants.

My name is unimportant, but should you have any question about me or this website, please ask.
I will do my best to answer all of your questions.

I hope webelievethetruth helps you find the path to the truth and bring an end to all your suffering. May all of you experience the bliss of absolute truth. May all of your minds be purified. May your mind be liberated, may all of you enjoy real peace, joyful bliss, harmony and happiness.

MAY ALL BEINGS BE HAPPY AND LIVE LIFE WITHOUT SUFFERING!
